Another Site, Another Design

Category: About

Yes it is that time again as I change servers, drop the dot com, and revamp the site for the 8th time. This time I have gone with simplicity versus all the complicated versions of the past. I am still in the process of putting everything together as I tweek the theme, add the Niterat logo (which may also get a face lift), and install all the features that I see necessary for regular usage. With the new ease of use gaind from switching to word press, post will be easy to put up and post so check back frequently for new information as well as old blog post added to the site (”sometimes there are new things discovered in the past”). So in other words check the archives from time to time and see what you can find. Register so that I know you are reading the post and get email updates.

Lego Man to go Int’l?

Category: Classic Blogs

LegoMan0001So yea I checked my email this morning and noticed an email with the subject “press enquiry….” and although there was a typo I was still intrigued. Upon reading the email my jaw dropped as it was an email from a features journalist/photo editor from the World Entertainment News Network in London and the U.S. The email went on to say:

“I write about the unusual, the quirky and the unique! Having seen your site I would like to write about the creation of your fab lego man contact and wondered if I could get some hi-res images to accompany my text?”

So could this just be the beginning of the Legend of Legoman?

Only time will tell.

The Real World Begins now!

Category: Old MySpace Blogs

I’ve FINALLY found a job!!!! That’s right so starting tomorrow I get to jump straight into the grind and start meeting traffic at 7 in the morning. But surprisingly I am excited about the opportunity. The Job is with a company called Stallion, Inc. and they do all of the direct (face to face) sales for Bellsouth/AT&T in middle Tennessee. So I will be training for about a week…be considered a new entry for the first three weeks then be bumped up to a trainer.  The trainer position last for 6-8 months (aprox.) then you move up to Assistant Manager (this last for another 2-3 months)…and then comes full blown management. Do the math…in a year if I play my cards right and work my ass off I will get my own office, staffed by employees that I have hired and Bellsouth/AT&T pick up the bill. How sweet is that! BOOOYA!

Now yes for the next 10-12 months (possibly shorter) I will be doing door to door cold calls on businesses, but the commission is good, and the employees seem entertaining. So starting tomarrow the real world begins, which means:
***No more late nights…at least sunday through thursday night***

Well it’s early and I hate to say it…but Goodnight!

Hunt for the Great White Wii

Category: Classic Blogs

Nintendo Wii

This is my epic journey across middle Tennessee in search for a Nintendo Wii. Unlike many others I did not have the time to camp out for the initial launch day and I was busy finishing school projects for graduation, so my Wii search began a month later than most.

I began my search on December 17 of 2006 after an all night graduation party. There had been a lot of speculation that the 17th would be a major Wii release day so my boys Aaron and Zack joined me as our search began at 5AM. Unfortunately I underestimated the demand for the Wii as we soon found out driving around Murfreesboro that there had been people camping out since the day before and the “wii” hours of the morning. We first stopped by Toys-R-Us where there were thirty some odd people waiting in line for 18 systems…so we moved on to Target, two EB Games, and Wal*Mart to be received by campers waiting in line, and all locations had nearly twice as many campers waiting to buy systems as there were expected systems.

Sad Halloween (A Tribute To Gizmo)!!!

Category: Classic Blogs

Yes sad not happy…depressing might even be more fitting. I work up this morning to messages from my mom and brother telling me that they were putting our family dog Gizmo down. I knew it was coming and really should have been done sooner but that doesn’t take away any of the pain or emptiness. Some may say oh its only a dog get over it, but Gizmo has been the only dog that I can truly remember and that I grew up with. This is my tribute to her.

Gizmo’s story begins back in the summer of 91 when my parent promised me and my brother that if we made straight A’s that they would get us a dog. We worked for it and that summer we went to the pound in Knoxville (where we were living at the time) and found us a mutt puppy, a lab/chow mix and brought her home. Being 7 and having a cute little pup was awesome and I can even remember putting the leash on her and attaching the other end to my ankle and letting her drag me around the yard…I love that dog.

Before we get to the move from Knoxville to Franklin let me back track and explain her name. Gizmo was not just some name that we randomly came up with and said hey your Gizmo and that’s how it’s gonna be. For those who have seen the movie “Gremlins” which came out around the same time we got our pup, the main furry creature (A mogwai) was named Gizmo and one of his distinctive features was that he had one ear that flopped over and one that stood straight up, as did our new puppy. And thus, the naming of Gizmo.

Shortly after getting Gizmo my father got a job promotion and we packed up and moved to Franklin, TN from Knoxville. I remember the ride because we had gotten a small dose of tranquilizer from the vet (in pill form) for Gizmo because my parent feared how she would handle 4 hours in the car. When we got settled into our new house it was decided that Gizmo would become an outside dog since the house we had moved into had an invisible fence. My brother and I were bummed because in Knoxville she was an indoor dog. Little did my parents know of the poor quality of the invisible fence as well as the troubles of maintaining it as my father year after year punctured the line while arrogating the lawn. But Gizmo remained an outside dog.

Gizmo had just about become the neighborhood dog always following us over to friends on bike rides…wandering to neighbors houses who gladly fed the happy dog. Everybody knew and loved Gizmo, but Gizmo liked to get out into the street and chase cars. One winter night while my brother and I were out playing in the snow we heard a ear piercing yelp and saw Gizmo limp into the yard as a car slammed on its brakes. My brother and I ran to check on her and we noticed a trail of blood as the gentleman in the truck began walking towards us. The man happened to be one of my friends uncles who we knew quite well from years of youth basketball and baseball. We ran inside in a panic to tell mom that Gizmo had been hit by a car and she rushed outside to asses the situation. It was about 930 or so at night so the vet was closed and it appeared that Gizmo had a broken leg. The man who hit her helped us put her in a carrier then we loaded her up into his truck, I hoped in and we headed to Nashville for a 24 hour animal hospital. Gizmo would be fine, she did in fact have a broken front leg and would have to wear a cast for the next six weeks. We had lucked out.

It was funny though because that winter it seemed like we had gotten a lot of snow so every time she went out to go to the bath room we would have to secure a Kroger bag to her cast with rubber bands so she could roam around the yard for a little while. There is also a picture of me and here laying on the living room floor; both sound a sleep with a blanket over both of us and her leg, still in the Kroger bag sticking out.

Gizmo was always around and lived may years beyond that with out too many more serious injuries. She had gotten into a dog fight and had a chunk taken out of her side that was patched and quickly healed, but nothing ever too serious. Since college began she has been on the back nine slowly finishing the course…following one of us on a walk…usually my dad, then after reaching the back of the neighborhood, sitting down unable to make the return home. Only to be carried for one or two miles home. In the last few years she went deaf, blind and arthritis set in as her hips began to dwindle and deteriorate and shrink, and the last few weeks she had struggled to stand on her own. The pain had become too great for us to not do the humane thing. This morning she was put to sleep and buried on a friend’s farm with her collar, a tennis ball, treats, and a family photo. She was a great dog and will be missed. No longer will she be the first one to greet me in the drive way when I go home. No longer will we open the back door and have her come running to see us. She is better off now and I know it, but it does hurt and she will be missed. I love you Gizzy, and I will never forget you!

Category: Old Xanga Blogs

Ha ha I just read the last two comments as I was gettin ready to update…Yall want it so here it is.

Since my last post:
Lets see a lot has happened so where to begin. I went home and ate dinner with my Mom, Bother, and his girl Saturday night to find out my mom is going to sell my car! Sounded like a bum deal until she told me if I let her sell my car she would give me hers. So its a good deal, a 97 Ford Torass (yes I spelled it torass cus it is a POS) for a 98 Ford Explorer (eddie Bauer Edition, fully loaded).
Then on V-day I went out with Lora and grabed some chinese food as part of an anti-V-day dinner type thing and my mom called and said someone crossed 4 lanes of traffic and hit her in the Explorer. She was fine and the car only got some scratches, but the man who hit her was arrested. Nobody knows why, my mom claims he was sober, but the car is getting fixed on Monday.
Tuesday was yet another Soccer victory for ATO 4-2 against Beta. Again I only got one goal and Jake got a hat trick (for non-soccer fans that means he scored 3 goals). Afterwardss we went out to hooters to celebrate.
Wednessday and Thursday were uneventful. Thursday Malhoit came over and we watched SAW and drank some COLD BEER.
Friday was fun because we (ATO) worked the Arena Cross in Nashville for a fundraiser. There were about 10 of us that went and we just pointed people to their seats for about an hour then got to enjoy the show. Afterwards we just went to Shoney’s and came back to the Boro.
And atlast we reach Saturday. We had a deccent party over at “the house” and I rolled up with the whole D-Block crew (Lora, Marshal, Grant, Ryan, Kyle, Preston and Annie). The party started slow but  turned out to be entertaing as the D-block crew broke out the cards for a round of F THE DEALER only to be followed by a fight club style fight. Two guys who were friends just threw down and when it was all done hugged. One of em ended up with a busted lip and the guy who I’d say won the fight broke his thumb.
Well thas all for now Peace!

I have decided on a new layout for my post that will go something like this:

Since my last post:
not a whole lot has happend that won’t becovered under the today section

Today:
let us see… well I had three friggin test today. all of my teachers decided to give exams on the same day so school was 5 hours of nothing but exams…whut fun. then I was told that ATO was playing Pike in indoor soccer at six so I rushed home to get changed only to find out that when I got to the rec center at 550pm that the game wasn’t until 7. So after commin home for a while I returned to the rec center as we proceded to whoop Pike’s ass. Now let me rephrase that. it wasn’t an ass whoopin, we only one by one goal and it wasn’t scored until one minute and 30 seconds remaind in the second half but hey we beat them with only one sub and 2 sick players.  Jake a pledge scored the first and last goal I scored the second goal which was the shot of the night and Phillip scored the third goal. Now I don’t mean to sound cocky when I said I scored the goal of the night because it was no pretty shot. However it was lucky and at the same time beautiful. Why you ask, because I missed the goal, banked it off the wall, the banked it off the back of one of the Pike’s. Put one on the board for ATO. Afterwards everyone got cleaned up and headed out to Buffalo Wild wings for dinner where after being completely blown out from the game I thought it wise to drink sweet tea and devour 12 hot BBQ boneless wings…I’ll just say they didn’t stay down long and leave it at that. Then to home it was to play SOCOM II and sleep.

On the brain:
Currently ATO at MTSU is only about 20 strong and we are of only 2 fraternities not to have an “official house” but recently The Governer of Tennessee has proposed to give 6.4 million dollars to MTSU to start Phase II of Greek row which would include us as well as all of the sororities. So I ask this favor of anyone reading this, whether you are greek or not. Please contact Tennessee State senators and tell them that you believe ATO  along with all the sororities at MTSU deserve that money for a place to call home. I BEG you. Even if you do not live in the state of tennessee bull shit the senators as they do to you and tell them that you think it is important. PLEASE!!!

that is all
